Mount Prospect, Ill., August 28, 2008 – Fiber Cement siding and wallboard is one of the fastest growing materials in the construction industry today and is projected to continue growing due to its durability, comparatively low cost, and resistance to the elements.
The problem is that traditional saw blades are ill-equipped to deliver quality cuts because they quickly lose their cutting edge or even worse, have teeth break during cuts. And, they also produce a great deal of dust. To eliminate these short-comings, Vermont American has introduced its Fiber Cement Blade.
The new blade, part #26950, features precision-ground ultra-fine carbide that provides longer life and cleaner cuts. The blade is equipped with deep gullets engineered to minimize dust, increase material removal, and reduces heat build-up. Regular carbide blades will pulverize the material, whereas the Vermont American blade chips away the material in larger chunks, reducing the amount of dust generated.
The thin kerf allows users to cut faster and the hardened plate keeps the blade running true and clean. The 7-1/4” blade has a 5/8” arbor to fit any standard circular saw and features a 13/16” diamond knock-out for worm drive saws.
"This blade provides a great value for contractors cutting single sheets of fiber cement board.,” states Kevin Enke, Brand Manager, Vermont American, Bosch Power Tools and Accessories. “It fits easily on your current circular saw, so it's simple and cost effective to work with this new material."
